🔄 The lifecycle of your file

The simplest way we protect your data is by not keeping it. Here's the full journey of a file you upload:

We keep your summary numbers (so you can see them in your account) — never the individual transactions from your file.

🔒 Encryption

All traffic between you and SquaredAway is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS — the same standard your bank uses. Your file is never transmitted or stored in plain text on the open web.

🚫 What we never do

• We never sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• We never store the individual transactions from your uploaded files.
• We never file your taxes or claim to — we organize, your CPA files.

🛡️ Minimal by design

The best-protected data is the data we don't collect. We only need your transaction descriptions and amounts. We explicitly do not ask for — and we ask you not to include — full bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, or any bank login credentials.

🧠 How the analysis works

SquaredAway uses an automated categorization engine that reads your transactions, recognizes merchants and patterns, and sorts each one into revenue, business expense, or personal draw. For the items it can't be certain about, it asks you — and your answers make your results more accurate. Results are a first-pass draft for you and your accountant to finalize; they are not tax advice.

Your results belong to you. You choose if and when to share them with your accountant. You can request deletion of the contact information we hold by emailing us anytime.
