Security & Privacy

We hold as little as possible โ€”
and protect every byte we touch.

Your bank data is some of the most sensitive information you have. Here's exactly how SquaredAway handles it.

๐Ÿ”„ The lifecycle of your file

The simplest way we protect your data is by not keeping it. Here's the full journey of a file you upload:

1 ยท UPLOAD
Sent to us over encrypted TLS/HTTPS.
2 ยท PROCESS
Read in memory to build your P&L.
3 ยท DELETE
The file is deleted immediately after.

We keep your summary numbers (so you can see them in your account) โ€” never the individual transactions from your file.

๐Ÿ”’ Encryption

All traffic between you and SquaredAway is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS โ€” the same standard your bank uses. Your file is never transmitted or stored in plain text on the open web.

๐Ÿšซ What we never do

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Minimal by design

The best-protected data is the data we don't collect. We only need your transaction descriptions and amounts. We explicitly do not ask for โ€” and we ask you not to include โ€” full bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, or any bank login credentials.

๐Ÿง  How the analysis works

SquaredAway uses an automated categorization engine that reads your transactions, recognizes merchants and patterns, and sorts each one into revenue, business expense, or personal draw. For the items it can't be certain about, it asks you โ€” and your answers make your results more accurate. Results are a first-pass draft for you and your accountant to finalize; they are not tax advice.

๐Ÿš€ Where we're headed: confidential computing

On our roadmap (not yet live): we're working toward processing your data inside Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) โ€” hardware-isolated secure enclaves where data is decrypted only inside protected memory that even we, the operators, cannot read. We'll update this page when it ships. We believe in telling you what's real today and what's coming โ€” not the other way around.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ You stay in control

Your results belong to you. You choose if and when to share them with your accountant. You can request deletion of the contact information we hold by emailing us anytime.
